About Frieda

Frieda Claussen was born in St. Paul Minnesota in 1897. She graduated from Smith college in 1920 cum laude with honors in chemistry. She worked as Medical Technologist and Laboratory Supervisor at the Charles T. Miller Hospital in St. Paul from 1916 until 1963. She was President of the Twin City Medical Technologist Society, the Minnesota Medical Technologist Society and the American Medical Technologist Society.

Besides being an accomplished scientist, Frieda was a musician who played the piano, violin, viola, banjo and guitar. She spent summers at the family house at White Bear Lake where she enjoyed swimming in the lake and working in the family garden. All her life Frieda worked on compiling family genealogical scrapbooks, some of which can be found on this web site. Frieda died at the age of 98 in 1996.

Frieda is the daughter of Martha Claussen and the great granddaughter of Clara and Ferdinand Willius.
