Clara's Early Life
Clara Holterhoff was born in Essen, Germany in 1938, a child of the Holterhoffs on her father's side and the Waldthausens on her mother's side. Her family moved to Cologne shortly after her birth, where they took up residence in The Clarenburg. In 1850, the family left Germany behind and emigrated to America.
Aunts, uncles, cousins, grandparents and parents all played important roles in Clara's childhood. I've included photos of the family in Waldthausen Relatives. There is more information on Clara's relatives, including detailed family charts, under Waldthausen and Holterhoff.
"The Family Story of Clara Holterhoff Willius" (referred to as "Henriette's Story") is a delightful biography, written by Clara, of her mother Henriette Waldthausen Holterhoff [194]. The story includes accounts of Clara's own childhood. You can read Henriette's Story here.
Photos of Clara and her siblings can be found under Clara's Siblings & Their Descendants.
