The First Waldthausens

The Waldthausen family from whom Clara Holterhoff Willius is descended has been successfully traced back to a man named Kord Weldihusen who lived in the early 1500's. The tree below follows the family down through seven generations of his descendants and is condensed from the family chart in Geschichte der Familie von Waldthausen in Niedersachsen Vol II by Dr. Max Bar. This will be given to the library of The Minnesota Historical Society.

I have limited the tree to family members important to our history. If you are interested in more information, there is an extensive genealogy on the web which covers the complete Waldthausen ancestry.

History of the First Waldthausens

I condensed the information I was able to get from the three German books and wrote a brief description of each of the men (in bold on the chart) from whom Willius family members are descended. The first seven generations of Waldthausens lived in or near Hamlin. To see a drawing of an early map of Hamelin and photographs of some of their houses, go to Hamelin Map and Houses.
